Carpel
The fundamental unit of a flower?s gynoecium (female organ), usually differentiated into an ovary containing ovules (embryonic seeds), and a narrower style tipped by a stigma which receives pollen. Carpels may be single or multiple in one flower, and multiple carpels are often fused together.
