Chlorophyll
The green pigment in plants, mainly in the leaves, that with the aid of light energy combines carbon dioxide from the air and water from the soil to create the sap sugars that are the building blocks of plant cell-wall materials such as cellulose and lignin. The process is called photosynthesis.
