Pollen

The dust-like material produced by the male organs of both flowering plants and gymnosperms, each tiny grain containing a male nucleus that combines with a female nucleus in an ovule to produce a seed. In flowering plants a pollen grain is received on the stigma and ?germinates?, producing an extremely fine tube that grows down through the style and into an ovule, the nucleus descending through this tube.
