Tetraploid

(of a hybrid or cultivar) One with double the normal set of chromosomes of its wild relatives, normally 4 sets of chromosomes instead of 2 sets. Tetraploids are sometimes created artificially by plant breeders and tend to be larger in all their parts?e.g. some Forsythia cultivars.
