Information about this genus
Name: Empetrum
Cultivation: CULTIVATION: Ideal for the rock garden in cooler climates, Empetrum prefers a moist lime-free soil in an open sunny position. Propagation is from seed sown in spring or from cuttings.
Description: Exposed windswept positions across the cool-temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere (and the southern Andes and the Falkland Islands in the south Atlantic) are home to this genus of 2 heath-like, intricately branched, evergreen shrubs which are low growing and carpeting in habit.
